Welcome Autumn
It's the most wonderful time of the year! Autumn has arrived in beautiful Lincoln, NE! There has been two weeks of absolutely beautiful weather and plentiful sunshine. Our little family has been enjoying the autumn weather by getting outside and going on lots of walks and visiting the apple orchard! It was an absolutely perfect day and thankfully I brought my camera with me. Grandma Gloria joined us on our trip and Logan had a great time practicing walking through the orchard. Here are some picture highlights of our trip:
Logan is 14 months now and as you can see is growing up fast and is such a handsome boy. He is the apple of Tom and I's eye and we are so proud of him! We love him so much and are so proud to be his parents.

Logan's new word
Logan said another word this week, "book." He said it about 3 or 4 times in front of Tom and I and we clapped our hands and said, "yay Logan!" I can't believe how many words Logan learns week after week! He is such a smart boy! Of course, we read books everyday at home with Logan doing mostly all the page turning. His favorite books are, "Splash," "Good Night Moon," "Lift & Look Creation," and "Touch & Feel Farm Animals." These are all think board books but we are moving on to the regular paper books pretty soon. Also, Logan really enjoys the Sabbath School Quartlerly that we read, which is a paper book.
Besides reading, Logan loves Peek-a-boo! He will play it with anyone who is willing to give him the chance to play. He covers his own eyes or will hide behind something and pop out, or will even use a blanket to cover his face. It is such a joy playing with him and so much fun watching him play with others.

Logan is becoming a big boy!
Logan turned 13 months this week and since he turned 1 year old things have been magical. 1 really is a turning point in a baby's life. At about 12 1/2 months Logan slept through the ENTIRE night in his own bed (crib). Tom and I both woke up at 8 am wondering where the baby was (he normally wakes up at 3 am and would come to bed with us). It was a glorious evening of sleep all to ourselves. I secretely hoped to myself that this wasn't a one time deal and would continue the next night. Sure enough, evening came around and he slept again in his crib all night. Two nights of sleep by ourselves started to sound like a wonderful transition or too good to be true. But, here we are after two and a half weeks and Logan is still sleeping in his own crib through the whole night! I really can't say that we did anything to make this happen except that we didn't force him to sleep by himself and just told ourselves that when he was ready it would happen. Also, I read from Dr. Sears, "The Sleepy Baby Book," that a trick mom's could use to help their baby sleep through the night is to lay the shirt they wore that day over their baby. The scent of mama reassures the little one and they can rest in peace. This has worked wonderful for us and I recommend it highly!
Logan also took his first steps this week! Three to be exact! I think he is more excited than we are because he is one independent little fellow! We can't believe our little baby is turning into an independent toddler! Logan has also taken a huge interest in books and we ready every day, several times a day! He also has learned to say, "tummy," "yummy," and "grandpa!" Grandpa Jesse was just as proud as a grandpa could get when Logan said his name.
Logan is enjoying finger food and anything mommy eats. We have discovered that Logan can take some spicy food, without crying! He is his father's son :) Logan really enjoys his fruits and vegetables. He also loves his soymilk! Logan has mastered his sippy cup and is perfecting sipping out of a cup.
Yes, my little baby is no longer a baby, he is a toddler, and a smart one at that. I am so proud of him and love him very much!

Logan Turns 1!!
Logan turned 1 on Sabbath, July 23rd! It was a really exciting week getting ready for Logan's birthday party on Sunday, July 24th. We decided to throw a jungle theme party at our place and invite a few close friends and family. But first, we woke up on Sabbath morning and went to Sabbath school where they celebrated Logan's birthday. We sang a special song and he got a "birthday cake" and a present from the cradle roll class (a cute stuffed monkey). After church we went to Logan's great-grandparent's house for a family birthday celebration. We had a cake and some presents and of course singing! Sunday we had his party and decorate our living room to look like a jungle. We made cut out foot prints and put them on the sidewalk and stairs up to our front door. We had animal print balloons and jungle stuffed animals in the jungle. For fun we had face painting for the kids. Grandma Gloria made special vegan cup cakes and a vegan cake just for Logan! It was delicious! Logan really liked the cake and put his whole face in it :) He then opened his presents (with the help of Mommy) and really enjoyed playing with the paper! After about an hour and a half Logan was ready to call it quites. He promptly took a nap after the party was over. All in all, it was a really fun day and I think Logan enjoyed himself. Here are a few pictures from Logan's birthday weekend.
